Can you keep your AI requests in Europe?

Often you can, if the service lets you choose the processing country. Here is how it works and what to check before you ask something personal.

The short answer

Yes, when the model and provider offer European processing and the service lets you pick it. In Souvéa you can choose countries such as Germany, Sweden, Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland where the model supports them, and the country appears beside each answer.

What data residency means in daily life

Data residency is about where data is kept and handled. For AI, there are two parts: where your information is stored, and where a request is processed when a model answers you.

Most services talk about the first. The second changes with every request and is rarely shown.

How to keep a request in Europe

A few steps make the difference.

  • Pick a model that offers a European processing country
  • Choose the country before you ask
  • Check the country shown beside the answer
  • Pick a different model if the country matters more than the model

What it is not

Choosing a processing country is visibility and choice, not a legal guarantee or a compliance certificate. Availability varies by model, provider and region.
